The STUDIO organism

Make sound, record it, mix it, burn it, Print out the cover put in a plastic pouch- My first recordlabel release and you never had to leave the room, ok it sounds like an American infomercial but no its D.I.Y. post year 2000. The sky is the limit and there shit is at knee level music-vise.

Why my first recordlabel isn’t a mere open studio, is because of unpredictability of experimentation, improvisation and as can be seen in some clues left in the instruments made available. (see Sonics)

The STUDIO

It is simple the studio is set up to record 4 sources of sound, by 4 microphones into a mixer and then burn the result onto a CD-R print a label on it and covers.
All in one place.

Punkish D.I.Y. is basically about analogue and purism an ideal more than a pragmatical concept, well mostly. The idea behind the studio was to encourage bedroom recorders to bring their shit; to a place where they in a low cost way could get their music out. Starting out in this manner trying to tap into the roots of labels such as Discord, touch & go and subpop , that back in the 80s and 90s served as archives of music they knew else way would be lost in time.

A discussion about quality and inflation too ensue? Well dare top fail some gems are bound to be rinsed from out of the muck, by creating conditions none habitable for pop the attempt will guaranteed yield interesting results for the sonically adventurous of us?

The Plan

Above is a sketch of the UKS gallery, and how the studio and guitar/sculptures would be at the heart of the exhibition. Makin

The GEAR I’m using:
I’m using a cheap Behringer Xenxy 1204 mixer, relatively cheap Edirol soundcard, Samson Microphones; even the CD-Rs are kind of cheap bought at Claes Ohlson.
The Laptop is an Acer Aspire bought of the web, with stock features the programs used are a bit outdated for a Vista machine, but will hopefully work well. The Idea is to do it on a budget, so no buffs may complain, its being done on the cheap intentionally to exemplify the opportunities.

g it a stage and studio unlike the 20Kvm bedroom most of us are used to experimenting in.
